Our story
Deep love, ardent desire and tireless effort of the Mučibabić family gave life to the story of the family winery and distillery Krstašica, located in the heart of Fruška Gora. In the battle of Krstašica (Irig), in 1717, Serbian colonel Adam Monasterlija and his 300 border guards, heroically gave their lives against 30 times more numerous enemies.
In 1786, the Habsburg emperor, Joseph II, visited this place, where according to tradition the wellspring was created. Refreshed with water from the Krstašica wellspring and fruits from the nearby orchard and vineyards, the emperor said: "This is the fruit of paradise. Adam came out of Paradise, but with his 300 heroes he returned to Him." And today, from the same wellspring, we water the same fruit and pour it into brandy, toasting to the heroes of the Krstašica:
"For eternal life. "Cheers!”
OUR VINEYARDS
In the central part of Fruška Gora, next to the former capital of The Monasteries of Fruška Gora and today's new wine capital, Irig, on the historic hill Krstašica, there are about 8 hectares of vineyards with varieties: Merlot, Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
After years of successful entrepreneurial business, in 2018, the Mučibabić family turned their love for nature and fruit growing as a hobby into a modern, family winery and distillery, not forgetting our tradition, producing wines and brandies in a natural way with the application of modern methods and production techniques.
Based on great passion, faith, and dedicated work in the vineyards, along with many trials and mistakes, a line of wines was created, which today includes Merlot, Rose, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Vrteška.
Desires and plans for the future rely on consistency and steadfastness, belief that effort and work can create success, that there is no compromise when it comes to quality and constant progress following the demands of the modern age. The potential is huge, both for the further development of existing wines, as well as for the introduction of novelties, but also for the development in the direction of wine tourism.
KONEKCIJA
The future in the winery and distillery "Krstašica" has begun and based on the combination of tradition and existing knowledge, with the improvement of the production process, work with a top oenologist and the dedication of all employees, a new brand – KONEKCIJA – was created – what connects tradition and future, what binds all the effort and work invested so far with some new trends.
From this KONEKCIJA, a wine is born that won the Open Balkan Wine Trophy 2023 award in the category of best white wine – KONEKCIJA Sauvignon Blanc 2021.
On the shelves of wine houses, shops and tables of restaurants, this wine can be found from the beginning of 2024. KONEKCIJA wines from the winery and distillery "Krstašica" the Sauvignon Blanc 2021, as well as Merlot 2020 already achieved first prizes and enter the TOP 50 wines of Fruška Gora. The story only begins here, with the largest officially recognized wine competition in the world – AWC Vienna 2023 – where KONEKCIJA wines brings two silver and one gold prize in the winery and distillery on the hill Krstašica.
KRSTAŠICA
In addition to the "KONEKCIJA" wines, there is also a line of fruit brandies "KRSTAŠICA". The annual production of fruit brandies is 6000l and the entire production is from our own orchards. The assortment includes Krstašica Plum Brandy, which has been aged for 5 years in oak barrels, and in 2024 we are launching Krstašica Plum Brandy, which has been aged for 10 years.
The assortment is wide-ranging and includes Krstašoca Grape Brandy, Krstašica Quince Brandy, Krstašica Apricot Brandy and Krstašica Pear Brandy.
In honor of 300 Adam's soldiers, today we are proud of the Krstašica Brandy "300", unique in Serbia, created as a blend of 5 different distillates, and which is aged in 3 different barrels – oak, mulberry and wild cherry.
Fully convinced of the connection we create, leaning on tradition, and eager for new challenges and achievements, we are making a story for future generations that each of us can discover in a glass of drinks from the winery and distillery Krstašica.
